    Project Description

Data centers are widely used today, especially in the field of data processing related to artificial intelligence. Therefore, the study of thermal performance and optimization of energy consumption in data centers has attracted more and more attention from researchers. In this project, we investigate the validation of the research work of Fernando et al.

    Geometry and Mesh

The geometry of this project was created using ANSYS SpaceClaim software, with dimensions and details exactly as described in the article. It includes 14 rows of racks, each containing 4 servers. Fluent Meshing software was also used for the meshing process of the data center project. During this process, approximately 1 million polyhedral elements were created.

    Data CenterValidation

In the validation process of the data center thermal performance simulation project, the simulation was performed according to the article and the results were compared with the article for lines 1 and 2, and the validation results were validated according to the tables below for lines 1 and 2.

    Data CenterResults and Discussion

For Line 1, the average absolute temperature deviation between the present simulation and Fernando's results was approximately 0.61 °C (corresponding to an average percentage difference of 2.82%), indicating strong agreement. For Line 2, the average deviation was 0.62 °C (an average percentage difference of 2.76%), confirming a similarly close match. Overall, the observed discrepancies are small — both well below Fernando's own reported prototype-to-model error of 3.7% — and confirm the validity of the present model against the reference results of Fernando.
