SC114
Unmatched Performance
Built for demanding CFD simulations and computational workloads
Processor
The brain of your simulation power
What This Means for Your Simulations
24 Cores means this server can perform
24 calculations simultaneously.
Why this matters: CFD simulations divide your fluid domain into millions of
cells. Each core can solve equations for different cells at the same time - more cores =
dramatically faster solutions. A simulation that takes 24 hours on a 4-core laptop could
finish in 3-4 hours with 24 cores.
Perfect for: Medium simulations (2-10 million cells), steady-state
aerodynamics, heat transfer, and parametric studies with faster iteration times.
The 4.2 GHz clock speed determines how fast each
core performs individual calculations - higher means faster processing for mesh generation,
solving, and post-processing.
Industry-standard CPU benchmark • Higher scores = Faster simulations
Memory (RAM)
What This Means
128 GB is
your simulation's "working space" - it holds all active data: mesh geometry,
fluid properties, boundary conditions, and results during solving.
ECC DDR5 provides high-bandwidth data access
essential for CFD solvers that read and update millions of cell values thousands of times
during iterations. This capacity handles
professional CFD work like large steady-state analyses and turbulence modeling - much
more than typical 16-32GB PC. More RAM means larger meshes and more complex physics
without performance degradation.
High-bandwidth memory for lightning-fast data access
Storage
What This Means
This server has
2 storage drives installed.
Each drive is 1.88 TB, giving you a total
storage capacity of 3.75 TB.
NVMe SSD storage provides extremely fast
read/write speeds for your simulation files and results.
NVMe is the fastest storage technology available - up to 5-10x faster than traditional
SSDs for reading/writing large result files.
Multiple drives provide redundancy and can be configured for increased performance or
data protection.
Ultra-fast storage for rapid I/O operations
Network Speed
Fast file transfers and remote access. Upload meshes and download results quickly from anywhere.

About This Server
SC114 — 24-Core CFD HPC Node with 8-Channel Memory for ANSYS Fluent
The SC114 node is the parallel-throughput tier. It runs a single Intel Xeon 6527P — 24 cores and 48 threads, all-core turbo at 4.2 GHz, with 144 MB of L3 cache and eight memory channels feeding it. Paired with 128 GB of RAM and 2 × 1.88 TB NVMe SSD, it's the node to choose when your case scales well across many cores and you want the widest parallel spread we offer on a single socket.
Where our 8- and 16-core tiers win on per-core clock speed, SC114 wins on breadth: more cores to split a mesh across, more cache to keep them fed, and far more memory bandwidth to keep them all busy at once.
Specifications
Component | Specification |
|---|---|

Two specs matter most here beyond the core count. First, the turbo is an all-core 4.2 GHz — not a single-core peak that drops once every rank is loaded, which is what actually determines throughput on a fully parallel solve. Second, eight memory channels: CFD is a memory-bandwidth-hungry workload, and a 24-core node with only two channels would starve. Eight channels of DDR5-6400 keep all 24 cores supplied with data.
What this node is built for
SC114 is the throughput tier: maximum parallel spread with the memory bandwidth and cache to back it. It suits:
Cases that scale well across many cores — 24 MPI ranks split a mesh far finer than an 8- or 16-core node, and with enough cells per core to stay efficient, that translates directly into shorter wall-clock time.
Bandwidth-bound solves — coupled solvers, large steady cases, and anything where cores spend time waiting on memory rather than computing; eight channels is where this node pulls away from consumer-platform tiers.
Large parameter sweeps and design studies — more cores means more work done per hour, so you iterate faster.
Cases with large working sets — 144 MB of L3 is among the largest in the lineup, giving each partition room to stay resident on-chip.
Transient, LES, and DES runs writing heavy data — NVMe storage keeps large data files and frequent autosaves from slowing down the solve.
Core count vs. clock speed: choosing SC114
SC114 takes the opposite approach from our high-clock tiers. Its all-core 4.2 GHz is lower than the 5.2–5.7 GHz boost of the 8- and 16-core nodes, but it has more cores and far more memory bandwidth to use them. Choose SC114 when:
Your case scales efficiently past 16 cores — enough cells per core that partitions stay busy relative to the boundary data they exchange, and
Your solve is limited by throughput or memory bandwidth rather than by single-thread speed.
If your case doesn't scale past a handful of cores, or is gated by serial sections and UDF execution, a high-clock 8-core tier will finish it sooner despite having a third the cores. And if your bottleneck is memory capacity rather than either, our high-memory nodes are the right tool. As a rough guide, Fluent needs about 1 GB of RAM per million cells for a typical steady, single-phase case, so with 128 GB, SC114 handles meshes well beyond what a 32 GB node can hold.
Tell us your cell count, physics, and how your case scales with core count, and we'll point you to the right tier.
Fast NVMe storage
The two 1.88 TB NVMe SSDs give substantially higher read/write throughput than SATA SSDs, plus nearly 3.76 TB of combined capacity — which matters more on a high-throughput node, where a fast solve shouldn't be held up waiting on disk. That means faster loading of large case and data files, quicker autosaves, and room to keep a full DOE sweep's output on disk without constantly clearing space.
How parallel solving works on this node
When you run Fluent in parallel, the solver partitions your mesh across all 24 cores (using algorithms such as METIS), each core solving its share of cells and exchanging boundary data each iteration via MPI. On a single node, that communication runs through fast on-board channels rather than a network, keeping parallel overhead low. Eight memory channels mean the cores aren't competing for a narrow path to RAM as the partition count rises — which is what allows a 24-core node to actually deliver on its core count rather than stalling on bandwidth.
Why rent instead of buy
Buy hardware | Rent SC114 | |

Frequently asked questions
How is SC114 different from our 16-core nodes? Half again as many cores (24 vs. 16) and four times the memory channels, but a lower peak clock — 4.2 GHz all-core turbo versus a 5.7 GHz boost. SC114 wins on cases that scale well and are bandwidth-hungry; the 16-core tiers win on cases limited by per-core speed.
Will 24 cores always be faster than 8 or 16? No. Fluent scales well only as long as each core has enough cells to stay busy relative to the boundary data it exchanges with its neighbors. On a small case, splitting it 24 ways can leave cores spending more time communicating than computing — and a faster 8-core node would finish first. We'll help you size it right.
Why do memory channels matter? CFD solvers move a lot of data between cores and RAM each iteration. On a node with many cores and few memory channels, cores end up waiting on memory rather than computing. Eight channels of DDR5-6400 give SC114's 24 cores a much wider path to RAM than the dual-channel consumer platforms in our high-clock tiers.
How large a mesh can it handle? With 128 GB of RAM, plan for meshes well into the tens to low hundreds of millions of cells for simpler steady single-phase cases, fewer for transient or multiphase physics (about 1 GB of RAM per million cells is a good starting estimate). Send us your case for a precise answer.
What if my case needs more memory than cores? For large, memory-bound simulations we offer higher-memory nodes — we'll recommend the right tier so you get the capacity, or the throughput, your case actually needs.
Is my data kept confidential? Yes.
