SC119
Unmatched Performance
Built for demanding CFD simulations and computational workloads
Processor
The brain of your simulation power
What This Means for Your Simulations
8 Cores means this server can perform
8 calculations simultaneously.
Why this matters: CFD simulations divide your fluid domain into millions of
cells. Each core can solve equations for different cells at the same time - more cores =
dramatically faster solutions. A simulation that takes 24 hours on a 4-core laptop could
finish in 3-4 hours with 8 cores.
Perfect for: Standard CFD projects - significantly faster than typical
4-8 core workstations, allowing quicker design iterations.
The 5.2 GHz clock speed determines how fast each
core performs individual calculations - higher means faster processing for mesh generation,
solving, and post-processing.
Industry-standard CPU benchmark • Higher scores = Faster simulations
Memory (RAM)
What This Means
128 GB is
your simulation's "working space" - it holds all active data: mesh geometry,
fluid properties, boundary conditions, and results during solving.
ECC DDR5 provides high-bandwidth data access
essential for CFD solvers that read and update millions of cell values thousands of times
during iterations. This capacity handles
professional CFD work like large steady-state analyses and turbulence modeling - much
more than typical 16-32GB PC. More RAM means larger meshes and more complex physics
without performance degradation.
High-bandwidth memory for lightning-fast data access
Storage
What This Means
This server has
2 storage drives installed.
Each drive is 1.88 TB, giving you a total
storage capacity of 3.75 TB.
NVMe SSD storage provides extremely fast
read/write speeds for your simulation files and results.
NVMe is the fastest storage technology available - up to 5-10x faster than traditional
SSDs for reading/writing large result files.
Multiple drives provide redundancy and can be configured for increased performance or
data protection.
Ultra-fast storage for rapid I/O operations
Network Speed
Fast file transfers and remote access. Upload meshes and download results quickly from anywhere.
Monthly Traffic
Generous bandwidth allowance for uploading/downloading large simulation files without limits or overage fees.

About This Server
SC119 — 8-Core, Large-Cache CFD HPC Node with 128 GB Memory for ANSYS Fluent
The SC119 node is built around cache, not just clock speed. It runs a single AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D — 8 cores and 16 threads boosting up to 5.2 GHz — but the standout spec is 96 MB of 3D V-Cache stacked L3, several times the cache of a typical CPU in this core range. Paired with 128 GB of RAM and 2 × 1.88 TB NVMe SSD, it's the tier to choose when your case's per-core working set benefits from staying close to the CPU instead of making constant round trips to memory.
Where clock speed determines how fast a core executes each instruction, cache determines how often that core has to stop and wait for data. SC119 is tuned for cases where the second problem matters as much as the first.
Specifications
Component | Specification |
|---|---|
CPU | 1 × AMD Ryzen™ 7 9800X3D — 8 cores / 16 threads, 4.7 GHz base, up to 5.2 GHz boost, 96 MB L3 cache (2nd-gen 3D V-Cache, Zen 5, single-socket AM5) |
Memory | 128 GB RAM |
Storage | 2 × 1.88 TB NVMe SSD |
The headline here is cache: 96 MB of L3 is roughly triple what a standard desktop or server CPU in this core class carries. Combined with a boost clock up to 5.2 GHz, each of the 8 cores can keep more of a mesh partition's working data on-chip — fewer stalls waiting on memory, on top of an already fast clock.
What this node is built for
SC119 is the cache-forward tier: strong per-core clock speed plus an unusually large L3 to keep data close to the compute. It suits:
Cases with a large per-core working set — when a mesh partition's active data fits mostly within cache, fewer memory round trips mean fewer stalls per iteration, on top of the clock speed advantage.
Cases that don't scale well across many cores — 8 fast cores with deep cache do more per core than spreading thin across many cores that end up cache-starved.
UDF-heavy and serial-bottlenecked solves — parts of a case gated by single-core speed benefit from both the high clock and the reduced memory latency.
Meshing, geometry cleanup, and post-processing — much of this work runs on a few threads and benefits from fast, low-latency access to working data.
Transient, LES, and DES runs writing heavy data — NVMe storage keeps large data files and frequent autosaves from slowing down the solve.
Cache, clock speed & memory: choosing SC119
A solve's speed depends on more than clock speed alone — how often a core has to wait on memory matters just as much. SC119 leans into that second factor. Choose it when:
Your case doesn't scale efficiently past a small number of cores, and
Your case's per-core working set is large enough that a bigger cache measurably cuts down memory stalls, on top of the benefit from a high clock.
If your case scales well across many more cores, a many-core node will still out-solve SC119 by splitting the work further. And for cases where cache size makes little difference — mesh partitions much smaller than what 96 MB can hold — the benefit narrows to clock speed alone, similar to our other high-clock tier. As a rough guide, Fluent needs about 1 GB of RAM per million cells for a typical steady, single-phase case, so with 128 GB, SC119 comfortably covers meshes well beyond what a 32 GB node can hold.
Tell us your cell count, physics, and how your case scales with core count, and we'll point you to the right tier.
Fast NVMe storage
The two 1.88 TB NVMe SSDs give substantially higher read/write throughput than SATA SSDs, plus nearly 3.76 TB of combined capacity. That means faster loading of large case and data files, quicker autosaves, and room to keep multiple case variants or a full DOE sweep's output on disk without constantly clearing space.
How parallel solving works on this node
When you run Fluent in parallel, the solver partitions your mesh across the available cores (using algorithms such as METIS), each core solving its share of cells and exchanging boundary data each iteration via MPI. With 8 cores and 96 MB of shared L3 cache, each core's slice of the mesh has more room to stay resident on-chip between iterations — cutting down how often a core has to reach out to main memory, on top of the speed from a 5.2 GHz boost clock.
Why rent instead of buy
Buy hardware | Rent SC119 | |
|---|---|---|
Upfront cost | Capital outlay for a workstation-class server | Pay only for what you use |
Maintenance | Power, cooling, admin on you | Handled for you |
Software setup | You install and license | Connect by remote desktop, full control, extras included |
Flexibility | Stuck with one machine | Move between tiers as each job demands |
For engineers whose cases are bottlenecked by memory latency as much as clock speed, or that don't scale well past a handful of cores, SC119 delivers both the clock and the cache — and you can still move to a many-core node when a job calls for spreading across more cores instead.
How it works — you're in full control
SC119 is yours to drive directly. You connect to the node over a secure remote desktop connection and run everything yourself, exactly as you would on a local workstation:
Connect via remote desktop — you get full remote access to the SC119 node.
Set up your simulation — load your geometry and case, configure your solver settings, and run ANSYS Fluent with all 8 cores at your command.
Run and monitor in real time — start, pause, adjust, and watch the solution as it progresses, with complete control throughout.
Keep your results — post-process on the node or download your solution and data files whenever you're ready.
You have full authority over the node for the duration of your rental: we provide the hardware and the support, and you run the simulations your way.
Frequently asked questions
How is SC119 different from our other 8-core high-clock node? Similar core count and boost clock, but SC119's CPU carries roughly three times the L3 cache. That extra cache helps cases whose per-core working set benefits from staying on-chip rather than hitting memory — the other tier leans purely on raw clock speed.
Will the larger cache actually help my case? It depends on how much active data each core's mesh partition touches per iteration. Cases with a working set that fits well within 96 MB see fewer memory stalls; for smaller partitions that already fit in a standard cache, the benefit narrows to the clock speed advantage alone.
How large a mesh can it handle? With 128 GB of RAM, plan for meshes well into the tens to low hundreds of millions of cells for simpler steady single-phase cases, fewer for transient or multiphase physics (about 1 GB of RAM per million cells is a good starting estimate). Send us your case for a precise answer.
What if I need more cores or memory than this? We offer many-core and high-memory nodes for cases that need to scale further or hold larger meshes — we'll recommend the right tier, or a multi-node setup, for your specific case.
Is my data kept confidential? Yes.
