SC54
Unmatched Performance
Built for demanding CFD simulations and computational workloads
Processor
The brain of your simulation power
What This Means for Your Simulations
This server has 2
physical CPUs installed.
Each CPU has 22 cores and
44 threads, giving you a total of
44 cores and
88 threads.
Why this matters: Think of cores as individual workers - with
44 cores, this server can perform
44 calculations at exactly the same time. CFD
simulations divide your fluid domain into millions of cells, and each core can solve
equations for different cells simultaneously, dramatically reducing solution time.
Perfect for: Large-scale industrial simulations with 10+ million cells,
complex transient analyses (time-dependent flows), multi-phase simulations, turbulence
modeling with fine meshes, and running multiple design iterations in parallel. This
dual-CPU configuration delivers enterprise-grade computational power - a simulation that
takes 48 hours on a typical workstation could finish in 4-6 hours here.
The 2.2 GHz clock speed determines how fast each
core processes individual calculations. Higher clock speeds improve both single-threaded
operations (mesh generation, post-processing) and the per-core efficiency during parallel
solving.
Industry-standard CPU benchmark • Higher scores = Faster simulations
Memory (RAM)
What This Means
512 GB is
your simulation's "working space" - it holds all active data: mesh geometry,
fluid properties, boundary conditions, and results during solving.
DDR3 provides high-bandwidth data access
essential for CFD solvers that read and update millions of cell values thousands of times
during iterations. This capacity handles
large transient simulations, multi-phase flows, and parametric studies - far exceeding
typical 16-32GB workstations limited to 2-3 million cells. Insufficient RAM forces
simulations to fail.
High-bandwidth memory for lightning-fast data access
Storage
What This Means
This server has
2 storage drives installed.
Each drive is 1000 GB, giving you a total
storage capacity of 1.95 TB.
SATA SSD storage provides extremely fast
read/write speeds for your simulation files and results.
SSDs are much faster than traditional hard drives - ideal for loading large mesh files
and saving iteration data quickly.
Multiple drives provide redundancy and can be configured for increased performance or
data protection.
Ultra-fast storage for rapid I/O operations
Network Speed
Fast file transfers and remote access. Upload meshes and download results quickly from anywhere.
Monthly Traffic
Generous bandwidth allowance for uploading/downloading large simulation files without limits or overage fees.
Operating System
Pre-installed and ready to use. Compatible with ANSYS, OpenFOAM, and other CFD software.
About This Server
SC54 — 44-Core, 512 GB CFD HPC Node for Very Large ANSYS Fluent Simulations
The SC54 node pairs the highest core count in our Xeon range — 44 cores and 88 threads — with a very large 512 GB of RAM and 2 TB of SSD storage. It is built for very large, memory-heavy CFD cases that need both serious capacity and maximum parallel throughput in ANSYS Fluent. When your mesh is too big for the 128 GB nodes but does not require a full terabyte, SC54 is the right fit — maximum cores with very large memory.
It is a very-large-case tier: 44 cores, half a terabyte of RAM, and the room to take on meshes that smaller nodes cannot hold.
Specifications
Component | Specification |
|---|---|
CPU | 2 × Intel® Xeon® E5-2699 v4 — 22 cores / 44 threads each (44 cores / 88 threads total), 2.2 GHz base, up to 3.6 GHz turbo, 55 MB cache each (Broadwell-EP) |
Memory | 512 GB RAM |
Storage | 2 × 1000 GB (1 TB) SATA SSD — ~2 TB total |
SC54 combines 44 Broadwell cores — the highest count in our Xeon lineup, with a large 55 MB cache per CPU — with 512 GB of RAM and 2 TB of SSD. Maximum parallel throughput paired with very large memory for the biggest meshes short of our 1 TB tier.

What this node is built for
SC54 is the very-large-case, maximum-core tier. It suits:
Very large meshes — with 512 GB of RAM, meshes well into the hundreds of millions of cells fit comfortably, solved by 44 cores.
Heavy multiphase and combustion — VOF, Eulerian, particle models, detailed chemistry and species transport at full scale.
Large transient simulations — many time steps across 44 cores, with 2 TB of SSD for the output.
Conjugate heat transfer and large coupled domains — full-scale thermal and fluid-solid models.
The most demanding cases short of 1 TB — when 128 GB is not enough but a full terabyte is more than you need.
With 44 cores (up to 3.6 GHz turbo) and 512 GB of RAM, very large cases both fit and run, then solve with the maximum parallel throughput of our Xeon range.
Maximum cores with very large memory
In CFD, memory sets the largest mesh you can run — roughly 1 GB of RAM per million cells for a typical steady, single-phase case, more for complex physics — while cores set how fast it solves. SC54 leads on cores and pairs them with very large memory: 512 GB loads very large meshes, and 44 cores solve them at maximum Xeon-range speed.
It is a major step up from the 128 GB flagship (SC40): four times the memory, at the same maximum 44-core throughput.
Need even more memory? Our 1 TB nodes (40-core Skylake with 6 TB storage, or 128-core EPYC) go further.
If your cases are moderate, a lower-memory node will serve you for less.
Tell us your cell count and physics, and we will match you to the right tier.
Fast, roomy SSD storage
The two 1 TB SATA SSDs (about 2 TB total) give both speed and space: responsive read/write for loading and saving large Fluent files, and enough capacity for long transient runs that write data at many time steps. On a very-large-case node, roomy storage keeps the solve from being held up — or cut short — by a full disk.
How parallel solving works on this node
When you run Fluent in parallel, the solver partitions your mesh across all 44 cores (using algorithms such as METIS), each core solving its share of cells and exchanging boundary data each iteration via MPI. On a single node, that communication runs through fast on-board channels rather than a network, keeping parallel overhead low. With 512 GB of memory behind 44 cores, very large cases load comfortably and solve at maximum Xeon-range speed.
Why rent instead of buy
A dual-CPU server with flagship 44-core Xeons and 512 GB of ECC RAM is a major purchase that depreciates between projects. Renting matches cost to workload:
Buy hardware | Rent SC54 | |
|---|---|---|
Upfront cost | Very large capital outlay | Pay only for what you use |
Maintenance | Power, cooling, admin on you | Handled for you |
Setup | You buy, install, and maintain it | Connect by remote desktop, full control, extras included |
Utilization | Idle high-end hardware still costs money | You pay only when you compute |
Flexibility | Stuck with one machine | Move between tiers as each job demands |
For teams running very large CFD cases periodically, SC54 puts maximum cores and very large memory on demand — with 1 TB nodes available when a case needs still more.
How it works — you're in full control
SC54 is yours to drive directly. You connect to the node over a secure remote desktop connection and run everything yourself, exactly as you would on a local workstation:
Connect via remote desktop — you get full remote access to the SC54 node.
Set up your simulation — load your geometry and case, configure your solver settings, and run ANSYS Fluent with all 44 cores at your command.
Run and monitor in real time — start, pause, adjust, and watch the solution as it progresses, with complete control throughout.
Keep your results — post-process on the node or download your solution and data files whenever you're ready.
You have full authority over the node for the duration of your rental: we provide the hardware and the support, and you run the simulations your way.
Frequently asked questions
How large a mesh can SC54 handle? With 512 GB of RAM, count on very large meshes — well into the hundreds of millions of cells for simpler physics (allow about 1 GB of RAM per million cells as a guide, more for complex physics). And with 44 cores, those large meshes solve at the maximum speed of our Xeon range. Send us your case for a precise estimate.
How is SC54 different from the SC40 flagship? Both use the same 44-core E5-2699 v4 platform. SC40 has 128 GB of RAM; SC54 has 512 GB — four times the memory, for much larger meshes — at the same maximum core count.
When would I need a 1 TB node instead? For the very largest, most memory-bound simulations where even 512 GB is not enough — our 1 TB Skylake and 128-core EPYC nodes go further. We will tell you honestly which tier your case needs.
Is my data kept confidential? Yes. Your geometry, case files, and results stay private to you, treated as strictly confidential — and because you run everything yourself over remote desktop, your work stays under your control throughout.
